Obsolete, 19 ^th century euphemism for the vagina , possibly derived from a passage of the Bible, Luke 16:22: ' And it came to pass that [Lazarus] died and was carried away by an angel into Abraham's bosom .' Abraham's bosom , in this sense, is heaven , and the vagina , by comparison, is regarded as a heavenly bosom for the penis . See vagina for synonyms.
